A strange fish shaped building

 The unofficially named ‘Fish Building’ is a regional office for the National Fisheries Development Board, positioned close to Hyderabad, India.

The four-storey building became formally opened in April 2012, and became reportedly stimulated by Frank Gehry's monumental ‘Fish’ sculpture in Barcelona which became completed in 1992.

The building is an instance of mimetic architecture, incorporating elements of the fish form into its functionality. This consists of the left pectoral fin doubling as an awning above the staircase to the entrance, and the 2 circular windows performing as eyes.

The building is clad in stainless steel panels and, other than the central core, is absolutely raised off the ground on faded blue pilotis. Blue-red spotlights light up the building at night, giving the influence that the ‘large fish’ is swimming via Hyderabad.
